Analysis: Doklam Issue - India showing its maturity

India is expected to be a super power in another decade. The nation’s progress in Space Research has opened up several tie-ups with various western countries. Most of the countries were preferring ISRO to send their satellites as it costs less and the success rate is high. India is progressing in the same way in Defense Research. The introduction of Brahmos (World’s fastest Anti-Ship Cruise Missile) is creating fear among the opponents. Brahmos can travel at a speed of 2.8 to 3.0 Mach and can be launched from Surface, Air and Water. Brahmos is capable of carrying nuclear warhead and it is almost impossiblefor any nation with current weaponry to tackle this missile. India has been the largest importer of weapons in the last 4 years and now the nation is selling Brahmos to other friendly nations. Adding to this, India - Israel’s joint defense shield system Barak 8, too turned popular as it is one of the few systems which can stop Brahmos to some extent. Hence, India is slowly emerging as a weapons seller.

Vietnam and Philippines ordered for a high number of Brahmos missiles on urgent basis while 11 other nations too were ready to buy this missile. Modi’s government is fast enough to work on giving a proposal to Vietnam government on selling a battleship equipped with Brahmos instead of just Brahmos missiles. Adding to this, India and Russia were jointly developing Brahmos 2 which travels at a speed of 7 - 8 Mach. The new series of Brahmos is expected to get into the market by the end of this year.

Raising population too is a big plus point for India to emerge as a super power. As per the analysis by experts, India’s population will cross China’s population by 2020 - 2025 and by 2050, India’s population will be way ahead of China. Considering the raising technological capabilities and the research on Space and Defense, the raise in population will help India to strengthen its military. Adding to this, the new “Make in India” initiative is raising the Manufacturing domain in the nation. As India has young talent, enough resources, good international tie-ups and the right market facilities, investors are showing interest in investing in India rather than in China. The raising FDI graphs of India were showing the same. In this scenario, China might be feeling that if they don’t take charge on India now, they may not have the capability in future to compete or go for war against India for the disputed areas.

India is slowly emerging as a resource pool for the entire world offering millions of talented people and market facilities. This is eating away the China’s market to major extent. More over, Modi’s government is successful in maintaining good relations with USA, Russia and most of the European and Asian countries. All of this is reflecting in the support and business India is enjoying currently. In this scenario, if China goes on for a war with India, it would be a huge loss to the dragon. War with India will trigger internal disturbance inside China which may lead to protests and a civil war. As per the survey reports, one billion Chinese people were not that happy with the Communist party rule and their decisions.

Recent agreements signed by India and USA allows the western nation to dock ships in Indian ports. USA and China were having issues in the South China Sea and this agreement allowed USA war ships to enter Indian ocean. As of now, India didn’t request for the help of USA in Doklam issue as Indian Army can tackle the Chinese attacks effectively with the modern warfare equipment. India has setup a huge chunk of Brahmos missiles in the Chinese boundary and the nation is ready for war if dragon fumes more. Defense experts from USA mentioned the way India is tackling this issue as ‘Matured’ while they commented that Chinese is looking like a restless child. India is prepared for the war but is staying matured by not triggering it. China sent series of warnings and even said that they want to go for a short war. Chinese representatives statement that their people will feel that the government is impotent if they get back at this point, shows the inferiority complex.

Withdrawal of Chinese support to North Korea if it goes on war with USA, is an indication that China is well aware of what will happen if war starts. In fact, China recently sent 10 notices to USA destroyer to leave their territory in South China sea. Interestingly, USA too is standing still just like India without breaking the ice. Lets hope that China withdraws its attempt to interfere in the disputed area and makes peace agreement with India and USA on the territories. Soldiers lay their lives for their nations and it is the maturity of the nations to save the lives of their soldiers by not going for unnecessary wars.
